Gaslighting
The purpose of this article is to inform readers of the issue of gaslighting and how to handle it. The five articles used to construct this essay were found using the Shapiro Library. The Gaslight Effect, written by Dr. Robert Stern, aims at addressing the issue at whole, offering textbook information as well as workbook pages to ensure proper recovery for those in need. The second book that was used, “Gaslighting: The Ultimate Narcissistic Mind Control” written by John Snow, offers a simplified explanation to gaslighting and addresses it at full. Instead of using specific examples, Snow targets the underlying structure that fuels gaslighting. The article “Gaslighting: A Marital Syndrome” focuses specifically on marriage and targets males who gaslight. The last two articles “State of Confusion” and “Stop the Gaslighting” focus on modern politics and confront our American system. Beginning with an overview, this article will explore what it is, the stages and types, the faces behind it, and how to resolve it. By the end, readers will know the ins and outs to gaslighting, and will be ready to tackle it head on.
