In 2008, psychologist Bryant Welch suggested that the White House was using gaslight tactics to control the American people. He used 9-11 as a source of confusion and stated that the White House’s use of gaslighting “exploits people already confused and perplexed about an increasingly complex world” (Welch, 2008). With Trumps recent changes sparking riots everywhere, confusion has never been so heavy. The American people are being told that certain news is fake news. We are told that “America is going to be great again”, yet bombs are being dropped, guns are being fired, and we are becoming segregated again. Trump even denies his own tweets. He fires anybody who stands in his way of success, making him a gaslighter by nature. |
